What are you going to do if it rains? Wouldn't that make your butt sweat in
the heat? Sorry, don't see the appeal.

Lambskin is used in hospital on bedridden patients and it prevents bedsores.
Natural lambskin is also 100% waterproof, it's cool in summer and warm in
winter. I came over from touring and a lot of the smart, 1,000 kilometre a day
riders have lambskin seat covers. Try it before you knock it.

It's true; our three children each have them on their beds... always
nice & comfy.
Also, I guess you could always wear rain pants in the rain, and if
not, you're going to get wet anyway!

Hmmm... I don't see any sheep dieing from heat prostration when it rains.
Actually, the sheep skins natural oils repel water for some time. When it
eventually gets wet, your body heat remains constant where you contact the
sheepskin, just the miracle of natural fleece I guess. That's why it is the
material of choice in convalescent homes. I use a pelt on my motocycle seats
whenever I take a long trip and it works great. Dollar for dollar the best
mod you can make to any seat.
No math necessary for that conclusion, just lots of miles.

See? I want one.....which could interchange between the KLR on trips to
Idaho (700 miles in a day) and the R1100RS trips to other places (0 to 800
miles in a day). Anybody know where they sell 'em?

There's a place in Ebensburg, PA called....drumroll....
"The Sheepskin Shop".
Sounds almost as funny as "Spatula World".
We got one at Woolrich for $45 (American) and two at The Natural Baby
Company (NZ) for about $55 each and they all measure about 2'x3'.
American sheepskin usually has a shorter nap than the New Zealand
variety.

I word of advice. Avoid the temptation of getting a pelt with long pile.
Short clipped pile works best at around 1/4". An average pelt will yield
about three sections big enough for a rider. If you need additional padding,
get a foam sleeping bag pad from a camping store, trim it to the size of the
sheep skin and velcroe the two together. I hold mine onto my bikes by using
the small thin bungee straps. Hartco sells pelts dyed in a variety of colors.

I have tried it, for years on my car seats. I got so I couldn't stand it,
especially in the summer. I don't know what you mean by being waterproof,
as it will soak up more water than a sponge. Bedsores, BTW, are caused by
bad hygiene. Understandable for an invalid, but not for a biker, unless you
ride a HD that is.

Bedsores are caused by pressure and poor circulation, as in not being
"rotated". How dirty or clean a person is doesn't factor.
