I'm curious. How many dirt miles do you folks put on in a year on your KLR?
Compared to street miles? I ride ~12k a year, but only a few hundred are in
the dirt.

Of 6,000+ miles last year, I estimate at least 1/3 were on dirt. And rocks. And mud. And snow. That's the beauty of living just downhill from the Rockies. Chris Lawson> I'm curious. If you are willing to let someone else do the job, I would recommend powder
coating the frame. I had a local shop do the frame for my 85' KTM 250. It
lasted without failure for several years while I owned it, and then has
lasted several more years while my best friend has owned it. The finish
was/is extremely beautiful and the powder coat finish is extremely tough.
Just for ides sake, the frame was powder coated with the extremely bright KTM
orange of the day. Just an alternative idea to painting.
