On the bar backs : you may check at your local BMW shop. Most have the bar backs for the GS's and they may or maynot fit the KLR. I had a set on my '95 R11GSA for the same reason and put a set on my '97 R11RA for the same reason The Roadster bar set up is totally different from the GS bar set up... I remember correctly the BarBaks picked the bars up about 1 inch and back about 1 inch.
