Fred" Fred, as you know, the best ride in Moab is not the White RIM. The best ride is the La Sal Mountain loop that you perfected with mile by mile turns at http://www.geocities.com/~klrdsn/page47.html I rode with my buddies Matt, and Roger from New York, and it took us 8 hours to cover the 120 mile mountain loop. I think the max elevation was 12000 something, we saw some cool lakes, got chased by a Cow, and threw snow-balls. Well, the rocky uphills (around mile 19) proved too much for my new Gripsters, and I just had 2 slow speed get- offs. Plastic is scratched. My other crash was trying to keep up with the Super Sherpa on Kane Creek Rd., This time, the gripsters couldn't stop the bike fast enough, and I rode into the ditch. My right front plastic wing broke 2 out of 4 mounting points (this is where the zip ties came in). Another bit of luck, I pulled a 4" long nail out of the back tire, and the slime is working, Roger also pulled a nail out of the Sherpa, and slime was used AFTER the nail removal, and it worked! He rode the white rim, and over Muscleman arch on slime!
