gps units and vibration

Lou, my GPS lasted exactly 2 trips before the vibration caused it to poop out. Interestingly enough, the first failure was caused by the AA battery ends chafing and arcing due to vibration, this causes a very thin carbon film to form on the battery tips which is very resistive. The second failure is the unit just powers off when there is too many vibes. Check out CYCOACTIVE.COM they have a description. I used to think it was all BS and could not concieve how something that has no moving parts and which is completely solid state could fail like this. Those expensive mounts the Cycoactive sells have merit. You ought to mimic the rubber isolation mounting if you decide to build your own. -svt-
