Hello list, after following the factory specs and tightening my axle nut back up I realized that under load, there was no slack in the chain, which I know can't be good. I remembered a while back, after having my local motocross mechanic mount and balance new tires, he told me to hop up on the bike, and he adjusted the chain while I was on it. I went there today and showed him the factory sticker on the chain guard, he tore it off! he said, NEVER ADJUST A CHAIN ON AN OFF ROAD TYPE SUSPENSION UN LOADED He said that you want 19mm of slack at the point of the suspension's travel where the chain is the tightest. which, on the KLR is when the swingarm is parallel with the ground. It worked, and that's what I will do for now on. -neil
