[dsn_klr650] creep

Post by Tom Myers » Thu Jun 08, 2000 2:16 pm

The clutch drags a little because the KLR has a "wet clutch". Maybe it will go away some with miles. Also should reduce after the oil is at normal operating temp.
>I have had this feeling that my A14 is creeping when I >put it into gear. I verified this by leveraging the >rear wheel of off the ground via the side stand and >putting the bike in 1st gear with the clutch lever >pulled all the way to the bar. The bike wheel spins. >Not just a slow rotation but at a fairly good speed. >If I am stopped it doesn't move the bike so it's not >that fast. I tried it in 2nd and got the same results >(of course the wheel spun faster). > >I tried adjusting the clutch at the lever but it still >does it. Is this normal for a KLR or should I try >adjusting the cable down at the crankcase? I don't >remember my other bikes ever doing this, the wheel may >have slowly rotated around but not like the KLR does. > >I had my A14 in for it's initial service about a week >and a half ago. It now has 900 miles on it. Could it >be the oil the dealer put in? Not sure what weight

I performed some major surgery on my stock silencer. I cut it apart at the first weld from the back and removed the spark cone and supporting framises and added a turn down tip to the canister. I don't intend to ride it on US forest land, so goes the spark arrester. I welded it all back together and painted it with flat black heat paint. Looks stock except for the turn down tip. It is quite a bit louder now, but I was looking for an increase in tone and volume. I like to heard as well as seen. You can compare my picture attached with the stock set up posted on my web site... --- Rev.
