wheel size info

Sorry to harp on the tire subject....
I was wondering what the standard wheel sizes/tire dimensions I should be asking for when I start phoning around the local dealers to find rubber to replace my apparently illegal (thanks Jeff!) tires I have on now. The bikes at home today, and I thought I'd do a little investigation at lunch hour. I know its a silly question, but I'm new to the motorbike scene!
