clutch clunk

Oh, and to minimize the clunk when starting the bike and engaging the gears for the first time, I can usually reduce it by pumping the clutch lever a couple of times, and then holding in in for a few seconds before shifting into first. I remember reading about an enduro racer, who was in a race that required starting with the engine off from a dismounted position. He would ride up to the starting line, put the bike in neutral, and shut the engine off. He would hold the clutch in the entire time, even after killing the engine. When the start signal was given, he hopped on, and the bike was much easier to start. (This was a kickstart bike, so reducing the clutch drag is all the more important.) Chris -- Dr. J.
