tina's accident (nklr)

Greetings All:
Wanted to thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers for Tina's
recovery. They really do help. Wish I could do this in a more personal
manner, and respond to each of you individually, but things have been pretty
hectic the last two days.
Short update: The docs put her left leg in a cast yesterday for broken tibia
and fibula; no surgery required. Surgery today to repair a deep wound on the
back of her right thigh. It was successful. Not sure what caused it, but will
go look at the accident scene when we get her more squared away. Not sure
when they'll start work on her right knee to repair all the ligament/tendon
damage. They will likely do surgery early next week to repair the two broken
vertebrae to ensure there are no spinal cord problems. She is still VERY
heavily sedated, so we still don't know the circumstances of the accident. We
may never. Vital signs have stabilized since yesterday, so that's a good
thing.
I've noticed a thread about protective gear. Buy the best there is! It is
such a small price to pay to reduce injuries if things go wrong. Tina's
Darien jacket and pants did a great job of reducing the severity of her
injuries (paramedics and hospital staff were VERY impressed) given the
horrendous nature of her accident. Ditto her helmet; it's junk now, but it
saved her life.
I'll try not to bother you all with this too much, OK?
All the best, Tom
