Bill,
It's very simple. I bought a 4 ft long 1"x1/8" flat stock (steel), and a 3 ft long 1"x1/4" flat stock. The 4 ft goes around the bike from the passenger foot peg upper bolt on one side to the same thing on the other side. The 3 ft flat stock was cut to about 17" + 19" pieces, the left side is straight, the exhaust side is shaped around the muffler. The "around" bar is positioned at the height just above the license plate and below the red reflector square. The 1/4" steel bars come down vertically from the rear rack big 8mm bolts (I needed to replace these with longer hex. head bolts) The whole setup cost about 15 CAD, and the beauty of it is that even if I fall over big time, I don't have to be paranoid whether I'll brake the rack or not. The worst thing that can happen is that it will be bent or maybe a bolt will be sheered off. Big deal, I can replace the bolt, and I can straighten the bars or reshape it any time. It's totally fool-proof, and that's what I needed. If you are nervous feeling the bike's rear a little wobbly, use thicker (well, heavier, too) steel bars "around". This setup is not as firm as Tim's or Arne's rack, but sure is cheaper and because there is no any welding on it, anybody can do it, and in case of a fall, it won't break.
Put a few coats of paint on the rack to prevent rusting, and spray some oil on the bolt heads for the same reason.
Pictures are coming tomorrow morning.
What's the internet address for the Bieffe boxes? I couldn't find one in 10 min. so I gave up. (that was last Nov., though)
Cheers,

I found them on the internet...I will pass this along to a friend who is thinking of buying the Givi system.
How did you mount the side bags? Thanks.
