If these organizations had their way, we would all be banished from anything
even resembling dirt. The one problem about trying to organize offroaders, is
the one thing that draws them to the sport in the first place. Their
individualism, their unwillingness to follow the group-the crowd. The one
thing that draws us to the sport, is the one thing that makes organizing us
so difficult. Many groups have tried, but only succeeded on the small or
local type level. Groups like CORVA, CATVA, AMA, etc., have tried. But they
haven't been very good at working together for a common goal.
I too, would like to see all offroad/dual sport type groups supporting one
another. We need to band together as a cohesive and politically powerful
group if we intend to hold on to our right to ride in the country. I would
suggest that each person should write a letter to their favorite group, or
membership, to talk about spreading our communication lines, working
together, and striving for a common goal that protects and serves the needs
of our community. For those that are not members of any group dedicated to
protecting and promoting our sport, I would suggest that you select one and
become as active a member as you can. Because I guarantee to you, that those
that want you off public land are doing the very same thing against
you......right now.
It is scary out there folks, we need to stick together as a group, on issues
important to us as a group. If we don't, the old axiom of "divide and
conquer" will be our epitaph.
