Should be good fun, wish I could watch. But if you want to really separate the wheat for the chaff, try this: Each participant with his/her on bike. Ready set go - put bike on stand or whatever, remove wheel, dismount tire, replace tire, air up (air provided) reinstall wheel, remove bike from stand. Let's see, I can name that tune, I mean, change that tire in ..............minutes. Knot - just wanting to cause a little trouble

up with the idea of having a tire changing contest at the Utah Get-Together. We are still planning the rules, but it looks like it will be a timed contest and you can show up whenever you want to be timed. You will be given the same wheel, tire, rimlock, levers and other tools as everyone else. You need to dismount the tire, remount it and fill it with air. It will need to hold air for a certain amount of time. Winner will get a substantial prize. Start practicing.

LOL... They had this same contest going on at the last major bike show I was at. Some guy was working away on the tire (in a cage... made me wonder) and I thought to myself... "Fred could kick this guys ass... even with a phone in one hand". Cheers, Arne

Nice try bucko. We'll put a tube in your wimpy Akront, drill it for a rim lock and give you the same 9" levers everyone else would be using. Would you like your Advil now or later? Gino

I give. In an effort to restore my lost confidence, may I challenge your to a match. I have a '72 Husky with those nasty, knuckle bustin', wrist wrenching, raised ridge Akront rims with badly worn tires. My baby needs new shoes. Your choice, front or rear. Bead breaker of your choice - hacksaw, gas hatchet, and hydro-pneumatic devices allowed. First one finished gets a genuine Moon Pie and a frosty cold RC. Second one finished doesn't have to anything, just smile and enjoy his new tires. Knot - many hands make light work ps: must show proof of insurance before attempting work pss: fire permit needed if using gas hatchet

During a certain alignment of the stars, the coefficient of rubber expands, the aluminum rim contracts and the tire just ................ But fer everday tar changin', Knot be usin' tar irons, 6 inch'ers, not those sissy 9 inch cheater bars. Successful tar chang'n is all 'bout finesse. Sure, brute strength and mighty leverage will get the job done, but a guy who knows how ta' fan-dangle the rim and tire -- why, it's as easy as pie! Ya wouldn't never crack a sweat changing no dang tar if'in ya know how ta' do it. It's so dang simple, just take all your tars over to Gino's - he'll be glad to show ya :^) Knot - going to work now
