Real common with a not real OEM part. Get a real lever that bends
not breaks ( a good general philosophy). Mine's an IMS, I think. Got it from
Fred. $25 ?? Bogdan

I think my speedo is off too. It reads 75 - 80 in normal traffic. That
can't be right! I'm going to ride side-by-side with my wife driving my car
(speedo known to be accurate as evidenced by a few citations) and see what
the KLR reads at different speeds. I'll post my findings soon thereafter...
As far as the shift lever, mine broke in the same place without warning a few
months ago with less than 2000 miles on the bike. I got an MSR replacement
from Fred for about $20 and went ahead and threw on some IMS cleated pegs
while I was in the neighborhood.

P.S.
www.bobscycle.com has some excellent prices on apparal and some parts.
Ordered some Alpinestar boots for $139 over the weekend. Check it out.

Vik had his GPS on our way to Moab last year. We covered a fair amout of
ground and found the same thing... Speedo = 10% error. ODO (not STDSN)
accurate. Obviously they're not symbiotic.

I won't laugh at you! I ride alone a lot, and pack a trio of Skyblazer
flares, and "bike fusees." For the latter, I take a standard 15 min
highway flare, cut it in half, and replug the open end of the "striker"
half with epoxy. That way, you can either signal from the ground or use
them to start an emergency campfire. They're nice and compact.
