[dsn_klr650] klr $3995 in salt lake?
It all comes down to the basic questions: How do you intend to ride the bike, how does it fit you and your riding style, and the most important question, how much it it worth to you? One thing that I know for sure, whether you are only a fair weather weekend warrior, or a die hard dam the monsoon daily commuter, nobody keeps the same bike forever. You could buy the XL, keep it for a while, ride it, and if its not to your liking, sell it and buy a different bike, or you could just collect bikes and change them every day like a pair of socks. You just have to get a scooter and ride, that is what really matters.....even if it really is a Vespa scooter. Jeff ____________________ Jeff, Thanks for the input on the XT vs XR/XL KLR. I had a 87 XT 350 once however it didn't seem to take the abuse as well as my high school days dirt bike an "82" XR200. That was a tough little bike. Maybe it was a bad karma thing but on the XT I bent the seat frame, almost sheared off a stering stop during a wreck and packed pine neeles and dirt between the rim and beed not to mention the suprises between the tire and tube and rode home on it that way. Flated and bent the rear rim on a rock. That was the last bike I had. I seroiulsy think the good Lord was trying to teel me something. No offense intended towards Yamahas, I still liked the bike, it had a nice power to weight ratio for off road ridding etc. I'd lean more towards a Honda XR/XL than a XT600. I've just become biased towards Honda's for better durability. I'm sure someone out there has an opposing story though. I've never had a Kawaski of any kind. How do they hold up to hard off road riding, not that I'll be ponding a KLR like my old XT350. I really think I've givin up riding like it's a race course in the woods and following game trails that 2x2 Rokons would choke on. I want to comute to work and escape after work and on the weekends. I'm thinking a 6.1 gal tank is a great asset for the riding I want to do now. Backcoutry touring. This time I want to see the coutryside. To try to prove that point I've even thought of a old Honda Trail CT 90 or 110 dual range auto clutch. In being poky slow, you have no choice but to see the back coutry with all that spare time waiting for the little motor. I think my wife would like to ride it to. Does anybody show up at Moab or other dualsport rallies on Trail 90's? Glen, Patently waiting for a KLR 650 or a Trail 90.
