Listers-
Just found a 1990 KLR for sale in PA that I am going to look at, it
seems to be in my price range ($2K) and only has 18K mi on it. I spoke
with the owner this morning and he said that the bike is stock except
for the centerstand. He is the second owner and has never checked the
valves and doesn't have any records from the previous owner. He has
never replaced anything on the bike other than the chain and guards,
etc... and has changed the oil regularly. What was particularily
interesting was that he said that the fairing on it was larger than all
the others that he'd seen on KLR's. Is this unique to earlier KLR's? or
to the A4? He couldn't describe it better than it was quite a bit larger
than what he thought was the standard fairing. Never heard of such a
thing. Also, as I am not familiar with the earlier models specs, do the
A4's have the 6.1 gallon fuel tanks? When I asked about it, he said it
was huge, so I can only assume that it is the large tank. I am going to
search the archives for things to check when inspecting the bike, but if
anyone has particular information or insight concerning this model year,
I would love to hear it. Also anyone have a picture of this year? I want
to see what the blue/white paint scheme looks like...
Thanks,
Zack
