Well, had a garage sale this past weekend (getting ready for the relocationto Texas ... I am no officially in the Lone Star State!!). A guy was tlking to me about my bike and commented on the Kawasaki side bags. He thought they looked cool. I told him the only thing I didn't like about them was the weren't waterproof. He said NO PROBLEM! Come to find out, he used to be with some sort of Press group in Key West, and had to send out camera men in the rain, etc. He said many of their bags were cordura or canvas type, and they used THOMPSON WATER SEAL on them...worked like a charm. He also used this on an old boat top (which was made for shade only) and it worked there also. I asked if the material remained flexible, he said it was a little more stiff, but was still very flexible. I am hesitant to do this, but may test it on some of my old Carhartt Overalls to see what happens. Just ordered the Tank and Tail bag from FRED this morning (HE HAD THEM IN STOCK!!!! WHAT A GUY!!!), so I will have even more reason to find out. Has ANYONE ever done this or heard about it? What are the possible drawbacks (disintegrate fabric?, stay sticky?, etc) Anyone else want to try it and let me know. It will be some time before I can experiment with it.
