Dear Dawn,
My KLR causes me problems with girls. They are attracted to the bike, and
then to me, but it never seems to last.
After arriving at Sanchez Mexican Deli in Whitehorse, Yukon, I was sitting
on the KLR minding my own business and contemplating the previous 300 mile
ride. A woman drove up in a Volvo station wagon filled with old newspapers
and watched my graceful dismount as I lifted my gut off the KLR gas
tank. Turns out she is a Gemini, and was interested in talking with me
about motorcycles, building cabins in the woods, and whether I knew
Gemini's couldn't visualize color or design until it was actually up. I
fell in love with her on the spot, because I knew that if we hooked up, I'd
never have to have any house plans or pay for any dang architects. I would
always have a job. We shared a couple of enchiladas, but she began to lose
interest after an hour or so, or shortly after I was unable to comment on
the relative merits of chemical versus composting toilets in a Yukon
winter. I'm pretty sure she's an alchoholic, because they really turn me
on.
I miss her, and plan to return to Whitehorse with the KLR. Do you think
this is a good idea?
Sincerely,
Manuel Leibiel

Manny, Bogdan here. I don't have Dawn's insightfullness and intuition but I
thought I could talk to you about this man to man. Woman like this don't
turn up every day, I'd return to the Yukon (or Khazakstan for that matter)
and try to woo her again. As you mentioned the bike and your physical
magnetism did their job; she was clearly smitten. Something did go wrong at
lunch. Was it your deportment, way of talking and/or, I'll be blunt, your
lack of sensitivity? You mentioned her inability for abstract visualization
and alcoholism, both I agree, wonderful attributes. Females of this sort
have a low tolerance for chatter unless it's on TV. The guy sitting tensely,
eating... portrayed a sorry contrast to the stud spontaneously lifting his
gut off the gas tank. Had you looked into her eyes and thrust forward your
hand, palm up, gently cupping a pint of vodka and a colorful condom, I'm
sure thinks would have turned out differently. Of course I'm curious to hear
what Dawn will have to say.

Here Here, I'll drink to that.
I can't do drugs, but I can drink (socially of course) {hey my kids are
still awake, don't they count?}
I feel that Bogdan's insight usually helps me make it thru the day until my
next beer.
Well this ones empty.....

Maybe so but I seem to recall an experience of yours that was pretty close.
