===== I don't know if it was "developed" or was just an available chemical of less desireability. I understand freon is an ozone depleting chemical and for that reason is being phased out. This started several years back. Currently you need a special license to do anything with systems containing freon. It's very illegal to work on systems if not licensed. New refrigerators use no freon at all due to the likely release, rather than recovery, of the refrigerant. I'm soon installing a complete heating/cooling system in a house and I can tell you the sales people were not going to include the AC unit unless they installed it themselves. They sounded almost scared that an unlicensed person might try to do the install (with them as the seller). On another note.... Have you noticed the new WD-40 cans? New nozzle system, right? Well, there's a new propellant as well, good old CO2. I ran into a problem right away when I first used it. Seems you can't (worth a darn) regulate volume. The new nozzle is either ON or OFF. So it's full on, WD all over everywhere, or off. I like WD-40 but I like it where I want it to go, not also everywhere else. So I called them. They said "...the EPA made us change propellants...". Oh great, so for the sake of limiting a little bit of hydrocarbon from the propellant side of the equation they increased, by a lot, the unneccessary release of a different hydrocarbon. ....no further comments, I'll leave you to shake your heads now. eric> > > > > This may be just a rumor: I heard that after Dow Chemical's patent > ran out on freon, that many other competitors started to flood the > market (with freon). So is chlorine evaporating from the oceans...wow a natural phenomenon that destroys ozone. Guess what...certain UV wavelengths of sunlight create ozone, neat huh? Mark B2 A2>I understand freon is an ozone depleting chemical

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! What has Kawi done? Still a 17" rear tire. Puny (relatively) 15L fuel tank. Goofy front fender. The power peaks at sport bike levels. It's no longer a thumper. Ground clearance doesn't look like it's been improved much. It looks very street oriented, like the Trans Alp. That's too bad. In the next year or two I was thinking of getting something very enduro-like. I was hoping the new KLR was going to be that bike, I guess not.
