Hi Brad, The shop manuals and buykasasaki.com list the HP ratings of the KLR650 as 48HP and about 40 ft-lbs of torque. The references don't specifically state where these numbers are measured, but I think it must be at the crankshaft. Did you see the dyno run graphs I posted the other day? They will give you a good idea of the real world performance of a stock A13 at the rear wheel. They give an evaluation of the bikes performance throughout the rpm range too instead of just the peak numbers. For your info, my bike puts out about 38 HP max at about 6250rpm and about 35ft-lbs torque max at about 3000rpm. Again, these numbers are measured at the rear wheel. I'm planning to install a jet kit, open up the air box, add a pipe and re-run the bike on the dyno. We'll see what happens. Jim

[...] Well, the factory went to the trouble of setting up the fan circuit with a relay and suitable size wiring for a reason. With the fan circuit in good order, a much simpler override method is to find a way to ground the wire going to the sensor in the radiator. Two bits of wire and a switch is all that is needed. One disadvantage of this system is that someone tampering with the bike could turn the fan on an leave it on as the fan system is always live. Of course, the fan switch in the rad could fail and do the same thing but I don't think this is a common failure mode. In my experience, the switch is more likely to fail by not engaging the fan.
