They will likely still make the KLR 650 in its variouls forms, but perhaps they are electing not to market it in Europe or your corner of Europe. We have every reason to expect to see 2001 models here in the US within the next several months. I have always wanted to look at the KLE 500: it would seem to offer a small sportbike motor in a dual sport envelope, which is an intriguing notion. I couldnt live with 1/2 the fuel mileage, though. -Tom '96 KLR 650 SC, USA> Hi all, > > I live in Croatia, Europe and my Kawasaki dealer said there will be no 2001 > model KLR 650 cause the Japanese company will produce only the KLE 500 as > the Enduro/Dual Sport bike. > But the KLE cannot match the KLR; although the two cylinder KLE is stronger > and smoother, it is also 20 kg heavier, the front brake sucks and it's two > CVK34 carbs double the KLR consumption. > I'm not sure if my dealer is telling the truth. electrics?
Imagine burying your throttle hard into mother earth while the throttle is WFO & you've landed several feet from your trusted steed. You lunge at your "momentary" kill switch & try like hell to keep it depressed until the revs finally drop. Problem is, you're at a really awkward angle & you can't hold your hand on the switch long enough to kill the engine. Been there, done that ... never again! I replaced the momentary kill switch with an on-off switch. I prefer a toggle switch (SPST: single pole, single throw), but a push button switch that stays on or off when pressed will work equally well. Again, whatever switch you use, make sure it'll survive your KLRs vibes.

file. Thanks a lot. Why wouldn't you use a momentary switch to kill the engine? Why did Yamaha make and sell this thing? Maybe because 99.44% of the time, the momentary switch is adequate.> Far from boring, Professor. Printed it out for my actual
