I agree, but I can see the counterpoint: The AMA is spending a lot of time fighting for the right to not wear a helmet, while we might be losing our right to ride on public lands, period, regardless of what we wear. However, it may just be that the helmet issue gets more press, as they are fighting helmet laws on a state-by-state basis, while the public lands issue is federal.
