I just feel that the AMA's position on helmet usage is inconsistent. The AMA doesn't want the "Government" to tell us to wear a helmet. Yet when I was racing AMA events, I was told in order to participate that I had to comply with their rules which included wearing protective gear including a helmet. When it comes to participating in an AMA event, the AMA is a dictator. So when I ride on "Government" roads, seems to me that the Gov't has a right to determine reasonable safety measures. Wearing a helmet is one of those reasonable safety measures IMO. What's good for the goose is good for the gander except when it comes to the AMA on helmet policy.

rather live with an imperfect AMA than no AMA at all.
