Well ol' Knot just finished planting the garden. Be eating those homegrown 'maters in a couple months. Earlier today I spent a couple hours behind a roto-tiller. It was an old thang, wore out front tines and it vibrated like no-bodies-business. After I finished and took a break, I noticed I couldn't feel the ice cold glass of water in my right hand, my right hand couldn't feel my left hand. I couldn't feel anything. My hands were dead! After a while the feeling started coming back, but the rest of the afternoon I was aware that my paws were pooped - no grip. So what has this got to do with motor sickles - take care of your hands. Here are some good exercises (from Mens Journal June 2K, p88, also see The Wharton's Strength Book and Wharton's Stretch Book) Wrist Flexors: Extend your left arm in front of you, palm down. Slide your right hand, palm facing up, underneath your left hand, with your right thumb over the wrist for leverage. Now bend your left hand back as far as it will conformably go, hold for two seconds, then return to the starting point. Do ten reps. Then perform the reverse stretches by placing your right fingers on top, the thumb underneath your left wrist, and pushing the left hand downward. When you're done, switch hands and repeat. Handshake Flex: Extend your left arm as if shaking hands. With your your right hand, grasp your left, your right fingers wrapping around the area between the thumb and the base of the forefinger, your right thumb for leverage, push down with right finger, hold for two seconds, then return to the starting position. Do 10 reps. Next, do 10 upward stretches by reversing the position of your right hand - placing your right thumb between your left index finger and thumb. Then switch hands and repeat both exercises. Roll-up: Attach one end of a yard of rope to the center of a 12-inch wooden dowel and tie the end to a 2.5 pound weight plate. Holding the dowel in front of you with both hands, slowly roll it toward you. When the weight reaches the dowel, reverse directions and slowly send the weight back down for one rep. Do three reps. Knot - who feels like he just rode Baja on a '69 Kawa 350 Big Horn. ps: Those spring hand exercisers are good to use when driving your cage.
