about removing the screen in the intake.
Hi everyone, I like the looks of the air box mod and I'll probably give the mods a shot. A word of caution though. I know for a fact that the screen in the intake is to prevent catching the airfilter on fire from a backfire. I would urge caution in removing it. I seem to remember that some filter oils are not flammable?!? I think "trying to remember this stuff from ten years ago" that with the right kindof filter it can be safe. I just can't remember if it's an oiled foam or a paper. I do know that I have absolutely NO desire to be on a bike that lights up the filter. First goes the filter, then the carb, then ALL the plastic! I bought a bike once that had been burnt. What a mess! Oh yeah, it can be an environmental hazard to if it happens in the forest far from fire equipment! I'm not a green weenie, but I still care! Well, enough of this mother hen crap! I gotta go change the oil and filter and go riding!!!!! C'yall later! Rowdy
