[dsn_klr650] exhaust question

i receive the dsn mag & noticed in the dec issue about carl eldens killer klr that he drilled to approximate 1/2 inch holes into the rear of his stock klr exhaust.  has anyone out there experimented with this?  i would like to have a after market exhaust but unable due to fundage.  would this mod increase h.p.?, sound better?, re-jetting required? any pros, cons and help on this subject would be appreciated.     William,    This would reduce some back pressure, but you would also be bypassing the spark arrester. If you don`t plan on being off-road, go for it. If you are going off-road, I advice against it. We have a bad enough fire problem here in Montana during the summer without somebody on a bike with no spark arrester tooling down a Forest Service road or trail, spitting sparks ( must be using auto oil). There are some other mods you could do if you feel you need to change the stock exhaust performance. Check the archives or contact me off-List and I`ll show you a couple.   Skip

I'm trying to find a used KLR saddle. All I really need is the seat pan, and foam, so it dosent matter if the cover is in bad shape. If anybody has one laying around and wants to sell it, email me.
