I'd expect the clearances to close up over time. If the clearances were to open up, that would suggest that there is wear occuring between the cam and shim. I'd expect a valve hammering against the valve seat a few thousand times a minute to wear more than a lubricated cam/shim interface. Mister_T> Am I correct?
