Jack the front wheel off the ground and it should be a lot easier. Accept no substitutes. I did and those boots are now spider condos in the garage. CBTs are the best. Order the size 46 and bide your time. Chris Lawson

The front wheel is off the ground but I never did losen the top triple clamp to intitially remove fork cap... What does loosening the clamp achieve? Tonight I'll try your idea of using a socket/wrench combo and see if that does the job....Thanks Todd

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The front forks & wheel need to be fully extended (ie not touching the ground) to make the fork caps easier to re-install. Don't even try this using the side-stand. Also make sure that the fork springs are fully seated & not hanging up. The job will be easier if you use a T-handle setup (sliding breaker bar with an extension bar & socket). As for the WIMP part ... Professor '95 KLR650 A9 Federal Way, Wa. [USA]
