There are occasionally some available via gray market channels; the mailing
list or even the Hawk GT list may be able to give you some leads.
Alternately, I've got a Hawk motor or two lying around...I suppose you could
always just stuff it into the KLR frame...hmmmm....
An 80HP Hawk race motor in a KLR frame...now that's got some possibilities.

I knwo two people who have researched this. There are companies out there that will bring in a gray market bike, but you quickly run into a couple of problems. To license the machine -which does not have the DOT or EPA seal of approval- it must be registered as "for off road use only" i.e track, racing, etc.. If you have connections at the MVD, this may get you around the problem. If you you succeed in getting it registered as on off highway vehicle, then isurance becomes an dissue. You're rates will most likely be very high, especially if you have a loan on it. Anyway, this is just what my friends found out, it may be different elsewhere.

Thanks George I'll give them a call. Quite some time? I keep Mexican
motorcycle insurance year round; last year it was no trouble to get and
included Baja. Bogdan
