Hey, Jim. I can only comment on the windscreen. I bought my Y2K KLR with the Kawi taller screen. It came in about a week after I took the bike home, so after installing I noticed a big difference in protection. I can't honestly compare it to other models/brands, but I have noticed that they are fairly similar in design. The one prob with the Kawi shield is that it rubs the throttle cables when the bar is at full left lock (ie: when using the fork lock). I will probably shave the shield or put a small piece of edging on later to alleviate this, but for the time being I have wrapped the cables in electical tape. I think a lot of people here will agree that a braided steel brake line, especially up front, will make a big difference. I did some research here on the web before buying and this was one suggestion that came up over and over. I'm also looking at the Dual Star center stand, and it will probably be my next purchase. I made a rear swingarm support described on the Dual Sport News and Owners Group site (http://www.geocities.com/~klrdsn/index.html) out of a piece of 2X4 and it works great for oiling the chain, but I'm not really keen on carting it around on trips. Good luck and congrats on the bike. Your gonna love it. Cheers, D.> what you think. > > Jim
