Good Morning Everyone!
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great tips from the list. I hope I get
a chance to take to the road and meet some of you fine folks in person this
summer. My A13 is running great with the K&N filter an sounds much better
with holes in the stock muffler. New Progressive springs and ss Russel brake
line are on the way.
Quick recomendation for the Acerbis Rally Pro guards with spoilers. I've
just gotten out on the highway for the first time on a long ride and though
I wasn't certain they would do the job, I was pleasantly surprised. That
little spoiler did a better job of keeping my hands bluster-free than the
stockers. They look pretty cool too in clear/black.
Few questions:
I will receive two salvaged rims soon so I can have knobby and street tires,
rims, chains and sprockets. Just couldn't resist the urge and I had a few
bucks to spare. My question is regarding the Avon Gripsters. There are two
models, one that looks about 70/30 street/dirt and one that looks about
95/5. I am thinking of the 95/5 for riding back and forth to work. Any
experience with these? How about a chain recomendation? Who makes that low
fender I've seen on some of the bikes?
Second, I'm getting ready to re-jet with a K&N kit. I've got the list's
posts and the article from Dave Jakeman printed. Anything else to know? This
one scares the *&$^ out of me. Never been very good at carbs.
One more: I just put on the Dual Star handlebar compass and I'm always
heading North West... Is there something in the guage cluster that generates
a large magnetic field? The guages shouldn't do that should they? Perhaps my
handlebar has been magnetized somehow? Any ideas?
Finally, I got my Mac Tools catalog last night. 1/4" drive 50-250 in/lb
micrometer wrench is 197.95!!!! NOT!!! Guess I'll be getting the Husky.
Thanks again everybody,
Jim Jackson II
