beemer rally
Hey List,
Just got back from a Beemer Rally near my home in Missouri. Good
turnout (around 250) with 3 KLR's represented, one by yours truly. One
notable bike and rider was from Jackson, Mississippi. He was on his
second KLR, '98 or '99 model with about 80,000 miles. I tried to talk
to him, but he was busy heading out to ride. There were several nice
twisty gravel roads and great paved twisties. Although I saw several
BMW GS's, none were dirty like my KLR
(even the new KTM was clean)
Anyway, there was considerable interest in the KLR by several beemer
riders, all good and I think envious. I admit I am a former beemer
rider, I owned an '86 K-bike which I traded in with 109,000 miles and
still ran like new. I since discovered Honda's best secret, the ST1100
and the KLR, which I recently bought used ('00 model with 6,800 miles
today.) Now to the point: Next weekend there is another beemer rally
in Arkansas called the Wilderness Rally. It's in a great area with many
gravel and paved mountain roads. Anyone interested let me know. It
should be fun.
Tim
'99 ST1100 18,000 miles
'00 KLR 6,800 miles

"Recreational hikers, boaters, and pilots will see an
immediate improvement in the accuracy of basic GPS
receivers, resulting in better situational awareness and
increased safety. All of these benefits will come without any
receiver upgrades or fees whatsoever. "

``In plain English, we are unscrambling the GPS signal,'' said White
House science adviser Neal Lane. ``It's rare that someone can press a
button and make something you
own instantly more valuable, but that's exactly what's going to
happen today.''
Apparently it happens at 5pm tonite (GMT?)
