For fifteen years I commuted 30 miles thru the sierra nevada foothills to work. After the first year I learned to duck extremely quickly due to the "B52 birds". These are large birds (don't know the type) that like to sit on the fence posts along side the road. They always take wing just as your approaching. Kind of a lumbering takeoff like a very large aircraft. Managed three hits riding thru one flock. Gary Bettes
