Yes, No and Possibly. Under most circumstances you can't run the perfect mixture under KLRs normal riding conditions (ie. altitude changes, and temperature changes) worse is that it is difficult to get every segment of your throttle range perfect, without even changing conditions. We have to compromise on the ranges that are less important to us. You can expect that the lowest range is affected most by the pilot jet, then the needle is important for most of the mid range and up top we have the main jet being the most influential. There is overlap bewteen all of the ranges. So if you tune your bike so that you optimize the mid approaching the high end (a lot of people) then you are relying on needle and main jet contibutions. Your pilot jet may be off and running rich or lean but you don't care about that (?). We can make a scenario out of any of the ranges or conditions but the point is... it is difficult to optimize the entire throttle range. So you could still get a good deal of soot in your pipe while still being optimized for your favorite or most common throttle range. However, even running perfectly in between you'll get some simply because our blessed engines are not 100% converters (ie. they don't burn it all and we get left over HC's); even optimally. Your plug is the better indicator of what you are running, rather than your header. Or as I have done, install an O2 sensor and tune your ranges according to that. With your set-up, breathing freely after the engine, you could possibly benefit from more breathing before the engine. There are those here much more experienced than I, and I hope they chime in to add or let me know I'm doing it wrong... There's also a lot of debate over which range to tune for, run it richer or leaner for better engine life or performance etc. LaterZ Dash A2 - Da' Bomb No Longer Crashing for Beer Will wheelie for Virgin Oil

I would too but I couldn't keep up. Bogdan ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
