hot bike!

Just got back from some quality play time on my Y2KLR what a blast. But I
was amazed and concerned that the temp guage sat at or over the 3/4 mark and
the fan remained on almost through the entire ride until I was back on
pavement on my way home. It also was blowing major hot air on my left leg,
pretty uncomfortable.
Is this normal for this bike? If so jesus, whats it going to be like in the
summer? Any fixes, use a higher mix of coolant maybe??
Thoughts would be appreciated.
