Accidently posted this with the wrong subject. Let me try again. Hi All, I'm heading to Alaska and then hopefully south america on my KLR in about 2 months. Probably be gone about 12 to 18 months. I will soon be due for my first service and will hopefully be doing it myself so I can do the second, third, etc on the road. I am mechanically handy and fairly confident to work on the bike except the engine. I have always left this to the professionals. So, are the shop manuals necessairy to do the first service? Keep in mind, they will not be going on the road with me (lack of room) and would only be used for the first service. Are they both required or would one be sufficient? I have the previously posted valve adj. procedure, what other difficult tasks should I have a procedure for? Thanks. I'm just being cheap you realize, don't want to buy manuals and use them only once. Budget is critical for the upcomming trip. A set of manuals $$ will go a long way in the gas tank. Thumper John, do you have a set that I could come over and take a look through? Maybe photocopy the important bits? Anyone else in the Toronto area?
