Conall: How old is the battery? If I get three years out of a motorcycle battery, I consider myself lucky. So, depending how old yours is, you might want to just replace it. I got a YB14L-A2 battery at Sam's Club (Champion brand, made in Taiwan) for $24.95 last year that I'm keeping around for a spare. At this price you could put a new one in every year. This is the third year for the OEM battery in my '98 and I'm expecting it to puke any day. Your battery has some unusual battle damage and might warrant replacement no matter what. Thanks. Bob Kaub
