Real quick lesson here. 40 meters is on the 7mhz band, 80
meters is lower on 3.5mhz. For these bands you'd need a large
antenna. You COULD put a "Hustler" mobile antenna though.
Also, this is NOT FM communications. You also need an Amateur
Radio (Ham) license.
They are also not great for local communications. Best bet is to
get your license up to the "Technician" level and get a 2m radio.
This is 144-148mhz and works through local repeaters on mountain
tops. Hope this all isn't too confusing.
