quick sprocket question

Mike, Seems to me that I replaced the sprocket after I hacksawed the chain off. Since I had no chain on I could not use the rear brake, and I used a piece of wood or something to lodge inbetween the sprocket and (something?) to hold the sprocket still. Then I removed the sprocket. By the way, I will add my name to the list of people who have lost a master link clip. No repercussions. I will use a continuous chain next time. Eddie
