I like 32 in the rear and 34 in front. Its the tire brand that makes it squirelly. My stock dunlops, the 604's and the Metzler tourance are rock solid. the Avons gripsters felt like a marshmellow. my Duro feels like it's between the stock tire and the Avon. I think the Metzlers tourance are the best for the street

I need some help with tires. I currently have Avon Gripsters, AV34 65H and AV33 54H. I went to the local store and they could not find them in the book. I did see the Distanzia- is that the same tire? Do they still make the tire? If so where can I buy it at a fair price. If not, what would be a good replacement that performs as good if not better. The AV34/33 Gripsters were discontinued last year and were replaced with the Avon Distanzias. Avon has/had a recall on the AV34/33 and they may still honor the recall by exchanging your AV34/33 Gripster for new Distanzias. I would give Avon a call and check into that. Are you saying you have a Avon AV34 H rated Rear tire? If so.,.. today is your lucky day, as Avon recalled that tire, and are replacing it for free. If you have the matching front AV 33, you might even get a free set of both front and rear. You can choose the newly reintroduced Avon Gripster AM24 or the new Avon Distanzia. Having tried both, I give the AM24 gripsters the nod over the new Distanzias. Reason is, the distanzias are quite unnerving (scary) on steel deck bridge surfaces. They wander like crazy, makes you feel like you're drunk. Anyway, here is the recall notice and contact info. I just saved you over $100..maybe $250 if they replace both. Tell them you want a matched set!! See quote pasted below. Note: Avon recently changed their very liberal recall offer, to only the rear tire. But you can try to get a free front too. Yep, Avon gave me the same extreme good service about 3 weeks ago. I'm enjoyin my free tires too. I took the old radial off of my parted out 90,000 mile KLR that I gave to Elden Carl, knew it was good for a free set. They are now the best Vendor I have ever done business with, it was really quite extraordinary. Just my 0.02. Fred, you still have that radial for sale? Conall-

I recently replaced a set of distanzias and I loved them. If you do mostly street with very little mud its the tire for you. They corner very well. I didn't have any issues with wandering on grating. I'm an east coaster though, may be different out west. I also run mine at higher press. The k-270's on the other hand are down right scarry by comparison. I'm getting use to it though. Yes I rode with Kenda,s. Not a performance tire. For commuting or traveling high mileage. 16,000 miles on front over 10,000 on rear. Best part $74 for the set including California tax at Chaparrel. TC
