Either Wolfman. I like the big one, but I carry a bunch of stuff other people don't feel they need (none of your business - -). GET A RAIN COVER (which, btw, has velcro to stick the map pocket on top of). --JW Flower

tank bags

Before I had my Explorer, I used my old Eclipse standard tank bag with a 3-point mounting system. Mounted upside down, it worked pretty well but it did hang over enough on the sides to become annoying. A friend had the Kawi bag, but it didn't hold much nor last too long. Wolfman makes good stuff and stands behind it. __Arden --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Ronald Criswell wrote:

I love my Wolfman also. BUT I too carry a lot of "suff" and sometimes wish I had tried the Dual Star tank bag and the Aerostich tank panniers. Joe --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "James Flower" wrote:

In addition to the plain paper map case and larger side pockets, Wolfman has an extra top pocket that fits between the bag and the map case. It's great on the pavement, but you can get a little carried away adding 'stuff' and make it too top heavy for doin' it in the dirt. __Arden --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Joe Tittiger" wrote:

Does the lite use the same harnass? I love the explorer, but I always end up cursing it when I go offroad - especially if there's a lot of uphill. It just gets in the way of getting in the right position. erik

Easily remedied. I ride with the Wolfman and Aerostich tank panniers. Bogdan

<><><><><><><> <><><><><><><> Tom, On my 2003 I use a Wolfman Explorer tankbag with the extra large pockets and the extra top pocket. It holds lots of stuff. Probably too much. It's not waterproof but using the rain cover, which I recall is extra too, I've never had an issue with stuff getting wet inside the bag. I also use the KLR specific front harness and it works well. Filling the tank means unclipping the two front clips and leaning the bag to the rear. For road work it is a good bag. For dirt work it gets in the way when I want to stand on the pegs. Going level or up hill the bag presses against my thighs/waist and I have to work a bit to stay vertical/leaned forward. Going down hill it's not a problem as I'm leaning back and away from the bag. I've thought about getting a different bag but it just isn't important enough right now.
