Actually, drag bikes are built to differing specifications based on
engine type. The goal is to equalize them and create more competition
and fan interest. V-twins are allowed more displacement than four-
cylinder engines.
So, saying one brand is faster due to the performance of one NHRA bike
is a bit of an overstatement.

To probably many of us, this list encompasses a bit more than a "KLR tech
site."

Yep that is the funny thing about when you go rooting for your own
favorite brand. I asked a guy once who was racing a Top Fuel bike how
much of his motor was still Suzuki. The valve covers was all. As far as
Harley being able to be faster than any 4 cylinder Jap bike out there.
Hmmmmm ......... they didn't do too well against them at Daytona.
Harley's own dirt track but have for years and they seem to own AMA
also. Their motor is suited for that kind of racing. The Japanese have
proven if they want a title bad enough and go after it, they will win
it eventually.

Hi Ron, I wonder when the Japanese are going to set their sights on Dakar?
If I remember correctly, didn't Peterhansel used to ride Yamahas a few years
ago?
That has devolved into little more than a KTM commercial as of late...

I disagree. By definition, this site is KLR, not a forum for motorcycle
opinions. In case you haven't noticed there are regular forums for this. IF
you want to discuss my coffee habits, we can do so ON A DIFFERENT SITE!

While the central focus of this list is KLR's, the discussion are
occasionally going to stray a bit from that focus. I daresay that this
would be a real boring and repetitive list if the only topic of discussion
was KLR technical issues. You're going to be a bit frustrated if that is
your expectation.
I don't think you really have much control over this, although the list
administrator does.
What you do have control over is your delete key.

I believe Fred's rules say we can post non KLR topics if we include NKLR in the subject line. I have enjoyed many subjects here. There are also many that do not interest me. I just delete them on go one. Just relax, delete what you don't want, and enjoy the rest.

Damn skippy, at this point I'm about ready to change engines.
Naahh, just kidding. I think I'm a little more screwed though.
I fooled with the insert trying to get it backed out. I was hoping I had a
few threads left to mess with but I just barely touched it and "thonk" it
went inside the engine. !!!
(sigh)
I think I'll hog out the hole to get the insert out...then....
Re-tap for bigger plug?
Get it welded and retapped for the stock plug?
Change engines?
I think I'll stew on this a day or two. Maybe I'll have some divine
intervention.
