Reference: "Cost & work (time & skill level) to install Kick Start? (07)
WHY As stated added security, I travel alone mostly and at times WAY OFF ROAD. (into woods camping etc.) and hard to push start loaded and/or alone and or in woods."
I'm concerned to be certain that this is not taken as disputing the wish/validity of wanting the kick starter. My questions are around the weighting of probabilities/risk and make me wonder about whether it would not be a more effective solution to simply carry/mount a second battery?
I know that the answer must be concerned with how one perceives the degree of risk but since the person posting the wish for the kick start as #1 (Ed?) is someone I respect so I'm seeking more information and not to convince/dispute.
I'm not at all interested in having a kick start, having kicked my friend Eric's KLR600, it doesn't seem like a solution for me. I'd be most happy to install/help to install a kick starter for someone else. I think (?) Ed is 100% valid in his concern but simply trying to discover how I might weight the risks differently.
