hello all thinking about buying a klr
There's also a good chance it's a Jeep Cherokee or possibly a 2005 Chev Silverado pick up. They're the last two that I've seen burning. The Silverado ignited in my next door neighbour's driveway two months ago and the Jeep was well ablaze in a KFC parking lot a couple of months before that. Both vehicles were total losses. Ford also has made a number of fiery contributions in the last few years as well. Unfortunately, one of the fire prone Explorers was parked in a service bay of a local Ford dealership overnight. There wasn't much left to the dealership in the morning. Ironically, a buddy of mine had his Ford Explorer in the same shop at the same time for an ignition recall (cause of fires). His vehicle was lost as well. So, the VW has company in the combustibility department.

Hey Larry, I have a 2000 RT and really love it, but only for two up long
distance, or when necessary, one up long distance. I would not like it for
commuting, two big, heavy, poor shifting, too high 1st gear for constant
stop / go. Its the best two up tourer I have every had. I commute on my
Hayabusa, much better for stop and go, lighter, slick shifting.
If you commute is all country with little / no stop and go, could be very
enjoyable for that.
