The top automotive techs in this area tell me that iridium plugs don't last well with the gasoline additive package used in this area.

They don't seem to last any longer than standard plugs.

This thread about 2-Strokes brought back memories of my first daily ride, a 1974 Kawasaki 175 F7. Despite Electronic Ignition which always made a fat blue spark, the plugs lasted only a couple hundred miles before they'd foul and the engine would stutter and blubber. The heads on most bikes back then had a 2nd hole, for either a compression release or a spare spark plug. I used mine for a 2nd plug.

Once, while riding down Main Street, the misfire started, The bike was blubbering down the street, in gear. Without thinking, I just reached down and yanked the plug boot to move it over to the spare plug. You can guess what shocking event came next!

Yes, just thinking about kick starting a recalcitrant old bike makes my ankle sore. Champions work very well on my tractor, though. Since it was built in 1952 it just doesn't care. Seriously, I replaced the points with an electronic module after burning up the 6 volt starter (running 12 volts) and it never fails to start with the first bump on the starter switch. It sits 6 months out of the year and it never fails to amaze me that way. Michael Sent from my iPad

When I was a kid, (mid-1960's) the neighbor kids circulated a story about their three hired men who were building an electric fence; [a single strand of electrified-wire that was used to keep livestock within a specific area] .Shortly after constructing the electric fence, and while admiring their completed task, two of them bet the third man a quarter, that he could not 'pee' and hit the wire. They had to pay the bet.Yes, I know; shocking to say the least.

And since those fences use alternating current, peeing on them really really Hertz. Just sayin'. Sent from an on-screen keypad in cellspace

Nice Rev!  My grandfather was a dam engineer.....  On one remote job site they kept a large metal water cooler with cold water. Crews from other companies would come around and drink their water. When they got back to camp their cooler would be empty.  Grandad hooked up a Model A ignition coil to the cooler to deliver a shock to the culprits... They came back to camp one evening and hadn't disconnected the coil when a local dog lifted his leg to pee on the wheel and ran off yelping.... Paul Sent from my iPhone
