I just repainted all my plastic with a spray can bed-liner paint found at Walmart plus used Bulldog plastic adhesion promoter also found at my Walmart. A auto paint supply store would also have it. You might want to get some plastic cleaner also found at an auto paint supply store. Rough up the plastic with 400 grit sandpaper. Mine seems like it is going to hold up fine but if it doesn't, the finish is kind of a flat textured surface which will be easy to patch. Kinda like the finish on plastic parts of a car interior. I'll save the shiny paint for the tank. Criswell (I hate KAWASAKI green)

f1engineering.com is/was selling 2001-2003 bodywork from their military conversion bikes. Try either buying direct from them or their auctions on ebay. Their username is 'cncace' (I think). Mark At 7:21 AM -0800 3/8/05, Ann Kincaid wrote:

Good recommendation. I purchased a 2002 KLR that was a theft recovery with a lot of cosmetic damage. I purchased replacement parts from a 2003 (tank, tank shrouds, headlight bracket, fairing, windshield, hand guards, foot pegs) - all for less than $300. A great deal cheaper than my dealer would do just for the gas tank. They're good people. Keep it up and pretty soon your bike will be uglier than mine.

Does anyone have a clutch rod they wouldn't mind parting with? It is the rod that actually disengages the clutch- part # 46102-1030 I'm not necessarily looking to save money on it, just the 1.5- 2 weeks it would take either the local dealer or Ron Ayers to get the part. tia Barry Spice COG 3620 AMA 425629 99 Kawasaki Concours- "The Purple Meanie" 51+k 92 Kawasaki KLR 650 Catonsville, Md

Good Morning I'm getting ready to dive into the KLR for that Top End job. Does anyone have a list of parts needed. I have looked at the fiche, and made a list of my own, but want to be sure I'm not missing something. Also, while I'm in there, I will play with the porting a little. Gerry Cooper from Cooper Performance will be doing the machine work for me. He has allot of experience on Top-Fuel drag bikes, and others. Thanks for your replies. i think the valve seal issue is something i would look into while i'm there coz according to Elden Carl ( hope i spelt it correct) the stock ones from thailand are crap. he suggests to use the one from the k1000 police bikes which are air cooled. i'm not sure if they are effective or not. anyone able to verify this? other than that........ head gasket bottom gasket middle gasket valve seals ( when i rebuilt my a2 i had to change the balancer chain guide too ) nippon denso ix24b spark plug. i love em 2.5 litres of engine oil new oil filter maybe new shims? exhaust seals ( just a maybe) hope it helps. clint --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Thomas Komjathy wrote:
