Hey guys, I needed this thread. My wife has some serious health problems that arose in late 2014. Since we have young kids, I realized I needed to hang up my spurs - at least for a while. Last ride was 8 Feb 2015. I probably won't get back on the street ( hoping they might enjoy dirt bikes at some point) until they leave HS - which will put me nearing 63. Nice to know I have a few decades of riding ahead of me even then! Rise safe... And long.

I lost my wife 13 years ago after a five year illness.  I would suggest you keep your wheel as it will offer a valuable diversion from caregiver and support person for your wife.  I know a ride often allowed me to endure those trying times and retain my sanity in the face of profound sorrow.

Good luck!

Me too at only 65. That said it’s great to see the KLR use well represented in the “more mature” age group, LOL!

Great answer,  I have just been though the same lost my wife then my mother, all in a matter of months. Did some trail riding in Lake George and the Allegany, did wonders to my ability to keep sane. And move on. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Hah!  You guys trip me out.  I'm 64, but not old yet!  In fact, I'm not sure what I'll be when I grow up.  Maybe 'old'.  My '06 KLR is a daily driver/Urban commuter w/ ~90k miles on the clock.  I recently got a Honda CB500X, which may compete w/ the KLR, once I get a functional suspension on it.
