nklr dr350 v drz400?
JW,The lowering links will make the rear suspension seem softer than the OEM links. If you're not inseam challenged and choose to return it to factory spec you may decide to leave it that way (as RW suggests).Randy

JW,The soft suspension is one of the great features of the DR 350. The dive you experience when you do a hard emergency break is not a big thing to me. It is still slowing down, which is the objective. You mess with the suspension and you miss with the ride. "Leave well enough alone" is a good practice.rw

Randy, I bought the '99 DR350 today, $1800. There's nothing major wrong with it, could have ridden it home, though there's some deferred maintenance. It could be a perfectly useable machine for three hours' work and little to no money. I do have longevity questions (this bike has almost 19k on it). But this was by far the best bike out there for this little money, and just a 1/2 hour drive from my house. It has a sturdy rack and aftermarket skid plate. It's been lowered and unfortunately the seller didn't have the stock dogbones but I'm sure those are an easy get. The rest looked stock, including that little bitty gas tank, 2 gal I think. Suspension seems soft at both ends, and there's a good bit of dive on braking. The forks seem to have more adjustment functions than on the KLR, no? I'm thinking suspension's the place to put time and money, after I just spruce it up and ride it awhile to flush out any problems I didn't catch on the test ride. At this price point I'm not too concerned about resale value. And it's impression that one doesn't usually get back the money spent on farkles anyway.

It's one of those where you push the bike onto it, strap it down, then lift the whole thing up where you can get at it. It's big, I'll have to park the bike on it all the time, and it spoilt a perfectly good four hundred sixty-eight dollar bill, but boy is it great to use. It's Harbor Freight, so it's no better than it has to be, but it'll do fine.
