Mike-  Clymer at p.210 shows how to check timing (with timing light).  If the check is wrong, they suggest testing the CDI (did that: ok, though I understand those tests don't prove it's good).  If that tests OK they suggest checking whether the woodruff key is damaged, which would affect timing.  Since I'm robotically doing the electrical tests in Clymer (CDI, diode unit, ignition coil, exciter coil, pickup coil, spark plug cap resistance), I thought I'd do that one too.  But my betters in this group have persuaded me that timing is probably not the problem, fuel and electrical are better candidates.-James On Apr 27, 2014, at 9:45 PM, Mike Huber wrote:
