Thank you, I was thinking the same thing. I don't think that the answer to "How do I dye my hair green" should be "Hair should be left natural" unless of course, you are some-bodies mother. DC DC

What kind of work would require removing the stand? People have done motor swaps with a stand installed. So far I've heard no convincing arguments against having one.

My only arguments would be added weight and something else hanging off the bottom of the bike to get caught on stuff. -Jeff Khoury

I'm one of those people. Removing and re-installing the motor was make easier by the center stand. Same goes for water pump work, valve lash inspections ..I could go on but you get the point. About the only group I would caution against would be those with bad backs. My German made 5 Star is not super easy to activate. Bogdan

If the centerstand catches on anything, it tends to tear off your foot-pegs. Of course, if you've already welded on your centerstand, or are already using 12mm bolts with heli-coils to hold your foot pegs on, that probably won't happen. But it is a very common problem with the stock bolts. Paul Streeter [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Center Stand or Not? It seems we have a rift among us..., may I suggest that we take a vote on this; "Center Stand, Yea or Nay" You know, like we did when the USA was a democracy unlike today were we have a............ wait, wait, better not get into politics, lets just stick to "Center Stand, Yea or Nay" I vote Yea. So, thus far its Yea one (1), Nay zero (0). BTW, I have a bolted (and welded) on Center Stand - and I love it! I am not worried about "bottoming out" - I avoid eating too many Banana Sandwiches....... next we will be debating peanut butter "Chunky or Smooth". I vote smooth. Eddie New Orleans

'Johnny' knew how to work and not much else. = makes Johnny a dull boy. Advice. here is a few basic ones. Make sure your bike has the chain/sprockets, tires that will last the entire trip without replacement. Carry spare tubes, tireirons, inflation device and know how to change a flat. (That way you wont need to. grin.) Field test your raingear before the trip. Take enough riding clothes to account for the worst possible conditions. Keep an eye on your tire pressure religiously. Ride like no one sees you. They don't. Take lots of pictures. The camera never forgets. Stop riding when you are tired; reguardless of how many, how few miles you have ridden. Look where you want to go. = not at what you want to miss. Load your bike, go for a 3 mile ride, come back and leave 1/3 of what you packed for the 3 mile trip. revmaaatin. ah, remind me of that last item in June.

I would say Your type of riding should be a big factor. If riding over, JUMPS,and BUMPS, And BOULDERs Like John does, i would think NO. Basic, dirt roads, Trails and pavement If you want to spend the money for the extra luxury, (As WE ALL, HAVE MANY FARKELS) Then Sure go for it. I'm still undecided for now. Hows that song go? ........"I get by, with a little help from my friends". and a stick here and there. LOL
